Description

Dolgoch Mill, formerly a water-powered woollen factory known as Pensarn Mill, is now a residential property. The building comprises two ranges, one lower than the other, arranged in an L-shaped plan. It is constructed of coursed slate rubble, with brick heads around the window and door openings and some brick dressings. The windows are mostly 12-pane sashes with small panes and pivoting three-pane upper sections. The roofs are slate-covered.

The taller range has nine bays, with upper-floor windows positioned under the eaves. Ground-floor windows are located in bays 1, 3, 5, 8, and 9. Modern timber doors with glazed upper panels are found in bays 2, 4, and 6. Bay 7 features a large boarded double door set beneath a substantial rough-cut timber lintel. The east gable end has a small, modern brick stack and plain timber bargeboard. An attic window is present on the left side of the gable, complemented by two first-floor openings, widely spaced and with matching glazing and brick heads.

Photographic evidence indicates that the rear of the higher range has ten bays with replacement windows. A waterwheel, stamped 'Ellis Bros. Aberystwyth', remains at the south-west gable end. The rear of the lower range has an irregular facade with seven first-floor windows, all replacement timber casements with slate sills and red brick dressings. The ground floor presents nine bays, with entrances within bays 2 and 9, accessed via replacement timber doors with glazed panels. Bays 1 and 6 have blocked windows rendered in cement. The remaining bays have replacement casements. Cambered brick heads are a consistent feature throughout. Slated roofs are topped with a yellow brick end stack on the north side and replacement bargeboards.
