Description
The terrace walls and steps at Coomb Cheshire Home are notable features constructed from squared rock-faced rubble stone. The high wall to the north and the stepped wall to the east follow the slope of the land. The ornate Jacobean style balustrades are made from an artificial material, likely cast stone, consisting of five panels to the north divided by short brick piers, and nine sections to the east that step down. Between these balustrades, there are fine stone steps arranged in a quarter circle, comprising 14 steps leading up to a circular top step situated between two tall brick piers topped with a stone cornice and urn. The top circular step features inset herringbone brickwork, and beyond it, an additional eight steps ascend in a concave curve, contrasting with the straight steps below. An arch-headed door is located at the extreme left end of the northern retaining wall, positioned between the wall and the service wing of the house.
