Description
Dolauhirion Bridge is a Grade I listed road bridge, featuring a rubble stone single arch that spans approximately 25 meters and is 3.6 meters wide. It rises high above the River Tywi from natural rock abutments. The bridge has a broad elliptical arch made of large cut stone voussoirs, while the spandrels are constructed with masonry in very thin courses and include large circular holes, also featuring cut stone voussoirs. The abutments are slightly stepped out and splayed. The roadway is humped, with ramped parapets made of somewhat cruder masonry than the bridge itself, topped with stone slab coping stones. Notably, in the center of the southern parapet, there is a slate coping stone inscribed with 'Thomas Edward 1773'.
