Description
The lychgate to the Church of St Mary is constructed from rubble stone and features a hipped plain tile roof. It has two rubble walls with oak lintels between them, which support the hipped steep roof. The lintels show chamfers, suggesting they have been reused from another structure. Notably, the lychgate has unusual, crudely made double iron gates crafted by a blacksmith. Each gate includes three heavy lozenge-section bars in the lower half and three flat bars above, with the flat bars connected by angled struts. The middle bar is adorned with welded cast-iron finials both above and below. Additionally, there are large wrought iron scrolls at the top, attached to the hanging stile.
