Description
The Weaving Shed at the Museum of Welsh Woollen Industry is a long, single-storey building dating from around 1902. It is constructed from grey rubble stone with red brick dressings. The roof is pitched and gabled, covered with slate, and features six rooflights on the rear pitch, along with cast iron rainwater goods throughout. The windows have cambered heads, typically consisting of 25 small panes and slate sills. The south elevation has twelve windows and a doorway to the left, which is covered by a modern canopy with a hipped slated roof, serving as the current entrance to the museum. The rear elevation is similar, but the third, sixth, ninth, and tenth windows have been converted into doorways.
Inside, the building retains its original roof structure supported by bolted trusses. The western end, which contains the museum entrance, still has some power shafts, while the rest of the building has been divided into craft units.
