Description
The mile marker at Pont yr Henfaes is a freestone cross with a tapering shaft. The shaft features an inscription that reads: "This bridge was built by subscription by the parishes of Llanbither and Llanllwny and the Carmarthen to Lampeter Trust, was certified by the bridge surveyor for this county and passed as a county bridge Michaelmas Quarter Sessions 1822." Below this, there is another inscription stating: "Rebuilt 1832 by Thomas Jones Mason by order of the bridge surveyor of the county." The cross piece has a central raised lozenge, with "Carmarthen XV miles" inscribed on the left side and "Lampeter VII miles" on the right side.
