Description
Emlyn House is a terraced house dating from the 19th century, featuring painted lined stucco and a slate close-eaved roof. It stands three storeys tall with a basement and has a two-window range of 12-pane hornless sashes on the upper floors, while the ground floor to the left has a tripartite window with 4-12-4 panes. The slate sills have been renewed. The entrance showcases a doorcase with attached Ionic columns, entablature blocks featuring a pulvinated frieze, and an open pediment adorned with small modillions. The arched doorway has renewed reveals, a radiating-bar fanlight, and a renewed six-panel door. There is a basement vent to the left. At the rear, a 12-pane sash window is located on the second floor above a two-storey lean-to, which has a moulded surround for the first-floor window. A large 20th-century addition is attached to the rear right.
Inside, the entrance hall features a staircase that runs in line with the entrance. The staircase has a continuous rail, scrolled at the foot, square balusters, and scrolled tread ends, comprising four flights. The ground floor front room includes a moulded cornice, a Victorian fireplace, and a moulded elliptical-arched sideboard recess.
