Description

The memorial stone in St Mary's Churchyard stands over 5 feet (1.5 meters) high and features an inscribed Latin cross with trifoliated terminals on a four-step base. Above the cross, there is a small and crude square Celtic knot, with a two-cord plait to the left and a trefoil to the right, formed of three interlocked hearts. The stone bears the inscription 'Dauid Medd', which is interrupted by the cross shaft. The two thin sides of the stone are also inscribed; the left side displays Gothic lettering that reads 'dne miserere & ddme', while the right side features Celtic letters that read 'ihcppc a' d' m'd'i'.
