Description
The range of attached farm buildings at Penysgwarne dates from the early 19th century and forms a three-sided farm court that is open to the east. The buildings are constructed of rubble stone and feature roofs made of grouted slate or asbestos sheets.
On the north side, there is a large lofted cart-shed with a half-hipped roof. To the right, outside stone steps lead up to a loft door that breaks the eaves. There are two square windows to the right, which include brick dove-holes arranged in a single row, along with a broad ground floor cart entry that has a timber lintel. A door is located to the left of the outside stairs.
In the northwest angle, there is an L-plan range that is single-storey, featuring a broad entry and door facing built in 1981. There is a blocked door facing east, followed by an east range that has a single-pitched asbestos roof, a central door, and a full-height wide opening at the south end. Attached to the south is a high entry wall with a camber-arched entrance, which connects to a southwest gabled stone building that has an inserted roof at a lower level than the original.
The south side features a long range with an asbestos sheet roof that is half-hipped to the east. There is a full-height opening to the right, which is an alteration with cement block jambs, followed by two tall coach entries with depressed arches, cut-stone voussoirs, and keystones. A window is located on each side of the left coach entry, and there is a door to the right of the right entry. The range continues to the east with a lower gabled roof.
