Description
The outbuildings on the north side of the yard at Tredefaid are a long farm range built in the 18th and 19th centuries, with sections dated 1749 and 1834. Constructed from rubble stone and topped with slate roofs, the earliest part is lofted and features a double front with a projecting stone shelf above a window, a door, and another window, all adorned with stone voussoirs. Above the shelf is a date plaque reading 'TLA 1749', which stands for T and A Lewis, along with nine pairs of dove holes. There is also a small off-centre boarded loft-light.
To the left, there is a 19th-century single-storey addition that has three doors with brick heads, brick quoins, and four pairs of dove holes. Loft stairs are located at the western end. The right side features another 19th-century addition that is two-storey and double fronted, with brick heads on the two lower windows and an altered central door. There are two upper windows situated under the eaves. Continuing to the right is a long single-storey range from the 19th century, covered with a corrugated-iron roof, which has five brick-headed doors separated by vent loops, with some doors infilled as windows. This section also includes a broader 20th-century opening and three similar doors that are spaced closer together. The eastern end wall has a door, an upper window, and a plaque reading 'EAB 1834', for Elizabeth Ann Bowen, with a slate roof at the rear.
