Description

The Governor's House is a former prison governor's residence built in rubble stone, featuring a slate roof and rubble stone end stacks. It is designed in a Castellated Gothic style and consists of two storeys with three bays, including a projecting round centre tower and rendered castellated parapets. The openings have pointed heads framing 19th-century four-pane sash windows. The central doorway is similar, with intersecting Gothic glazing bars in the fanlight and a four-panel door. The left end wall is windowless and made of rubble. An added section to the right has a higher plain rubble wall, with one similar window on each floor to the left. The rear is roughcast and features late 19th-century or early 20th-century four-pane sashes.
