Description

The Castle Hotel is a large-scale inn, featuring a whitewashed slate-hung front range and a roughcast rear, topped with slate roofs and stone end stacks. The building has two storeys and a front elevation with a three-window range of 12-pane sash windows, all with slate sills and no door present. Some brick is exposed at the edges of the windows. The slate-hanging extends just below the ground floor sills, with render below and a rendered plinth. The left end of the building has similar whitewashed slate-hanging and one window on each floor, positioned to the left. The right end is constructed of painted rubble stone.

At the rear, there is a long wing that is roughcast, consisting of four bays with a ridge chimney located to the left of the first bay and another chimney at the left end. The windows here are similar horned sashes set in brick surrounds, which are visible where the roughcast has eroded. The upper floor has four windows, while the ground floor features windows in the second and third bays, a house door with an overlight in the fourth bay, and a shop in the first bay. The shop includes a 30-pane fixed shop window and a half-glazed door to the left, also with an overlight. The northern end has a 12-pane sash window on each floor and a smaller window on each floor to the left, located at the end of a rear outshut. The property has not been inspected.
