Description
The National Westminster Bank is a three-storey bank building constructed in the 18th century. It is built of painted stucco with a slate roof and stucco end stacks, featuring a single dormer. The front facade is a four-window range with moulded cornices over the upper floors and a parapet. The windows are plate-glass sashes with moulded architraves and cornices to the first floor; those above are simpler.
The ground floor has a full-width frontage punctuated by a fascia and cornice supported by heavy scrolled brackets set on panelled pilasters. The main entrance is to the left, alongside three plate-glass windows. The doorway has a matching pilaster to the right, and the pilasters are set on pedestals reaching to sill-level of the windows, with sunk panels below. The entrance door is six-panelled with a tall overlight incorporating a cast-iron lattice grille. The windows are broad with top-lights, separated by two slim cast-iron columns and flanked by matching outer pilasters, which carry quadrant brackets framing the top-lights.
The interior has been altered.
