Description
The building is a Baptist church schoolroom, featuring a long structure with its end facade facing the road. It has a turret at the southeast corner and a gabled porch on the south side, adjacent to the turret. The exterior is constructed of grey rock-faced rubble stone with red imitation stone dressings, topped with a slate roof that includes copper ventilators. The roof slopes down on the south side over the aisles.
The east end facade showcases a tall central window that projects outward, with chamfered sides and a drip moulding that wraps around it. This section is topped with a parapet and a shallow gable that has a finial, all made of red imitation stone. The window itself is metal with twelve large panes, though it originally featured mullions and transoms arranged in three groups of four lights. On either side of the central window are two smaller windows, each with six panes and originally designed with mullions and transoms, also surrounded by red imitation stone and topped with a parapet. The hood moulds and parapet coping extend around the chamfered outer angles. The roof is hipped down on both sides of the main gable.
To the left, there is a low roof covering a short link to the octagonal corner turret, which includes cardinal-face loops and a candle-snuffer octagonal slate roof. On the south side, a short link leads to a single window before the shouldered gabled porch, which features a moulded cambered arch supported by chamfered side piers. There is a two-light mullion window to the left of the porch. Beyond this, a five-window range appears much plainer, with casement windows and roughcast walls.
Inside, the hall is an attractive eight-bay space with short aisle sections on the south side, supported by timber square pillars. The ceiling features broad queen post and collar trusses, adorned with ogee cusping beneath the collars.
