Description
The Pendre Inn is an 18th-century inn, possibly dating from an earlier period, constructed of whitewashed rubble stone and featuring an imitation slate roof with brick stacks. The building is one and a half storeys tall and has an L-shaped plan with a projecting gable on the right side, brick end stacks, a ridge stack, and a lean-to on the west end. The gable includes a 12-pane sash window on each floor, with a timber lintel and a hornless sash on the lower window, as well as stone voussoirs and a horned sash above.
On the left side, there is a painted brick porch leading to a ground floor 12-pane sash window, with a projecting slate shelf course at the lintel level. The first floor features a pair of 12-pane sashes that break the eaves under a flat dormer. The east end has a service range with a brick stack, a slightly lower roofline, and a 12-pane sash window above a large pair of casement windows with a timber lintel. There is also an outshut at the rear of the main part of the building.
Inside, the porch leads into a room behind the main stack, where the former east fireplace has been removed to allow access to the service range. The west room features a timber-lintel fireplace on the east side and some rough joists. There are two doors on the west side leading into the lean-to, along with a third door that has been added.
