Description
Hobbs Point features two iron bollards from the mid to late 19th century. They have a plain square top that moulds back into a rounded octagonal shaft. Each bollard is hollow with a pierced hole on each side. The western bollard is inscribed with "Sturges and Co, Bradford, Yorks, Ironworks." These bollards are similar in design to those found around the Graving Dock.
Additionally, there is a cannon barrel set upright as a bollard just north of Old Pier House. This cannon is the last remaining in its original position from a set, as the others have been retrieved and mounted on new carriages, such as those at Fort Road Park. The cannons are believed to be of Dutch origin.
