Description
The slipway and quay wall at Hobb's Point were constructed between 1830 and 1834 for the Irish Packet service to Waterford. The design was created by Captain Fanshawe R E and overseen by Captain E J Savage R E, with the contractor being H Macintosh of London. The project cost £20,250. The foundations extend approximately 34 feet below low water level. The structure features a limestone ashlar facing with Cornish granite copings. The slipway, which faces east, is broad and has a single slope. To the south, there is a small dock with a curved western end and a southeast corner that has been extended in concrete. The northern wall, which faces the Haven, curves around at the northwest corner and returns back to the Old Pier House. Three bollards associated with the quay are listed separately.
