Description
Llangloffan Baptist Chapel is a 1862-3 building, constructed as a Baptist church. It is built of rendered, unpainted rubble stone with a low-pitched slate roof. The west-facing facade features bracketed, open pedimental eaves above rusticated outer piers dated 1749 and 1791. A broad, shallow arch spans the facade, framing a pair of tall arched windows, a central arched doorway, and a row of three smaller arched windows above. The side windows have a central timber mullion, Y-tracery heads, and small-pane glazing. Double doors are topped with a Y-tracery fanlight featuring cusped decoration. Above the central window is a well-lettered oval inscription in raised capitals reading "Llangloffan Baptist Chapel 1862". The side walls have three long, arched windows, and the rear wall is of rubble stone with two similar windows.
The front court is enclosed by a rubble stone front wall, an iron gate, and an overthrow dated 1930.
Inside, the chapel features a three-sided gallery supported by four rows of three stubby timber columns, with the bases raised to the level of the pew backs. The gallery front is composed of long panels. The pulpit is a simple design, featuring four column posts and a rail, with staircases on each side. A 20th-century organ is also present.
