Description
The former stables and cartshed at Hescwm Mill, dating from the 19th century, is constructed from local rubble stone with long coursing blocks of Cilgarran stone and features a renewed slate roof. The building has a two-storey front with three windows, including three square loft windows above. On the ground floor, there is a window and door to the left and a cart entry to the right. The cart entry has a broad segmental arch, while the other two openings have cambered heads, all featuring bicolour stone voussoirs made of grey Cilgarran stone alternated with pale local stone, simple arch-rings, and a keystone above the cart entry. The left window may have replaced a door, and the glazing and door are from the 20th century, with the cart entry also having a 4-light window. The right end wall has stone steps leading to a loft door, which is now a window with a brick head, while the left end has a small lean-to. The roof is supported by stapled 19th-century collar trusses.
