Description

Hafod Llwyd is a pair of two-storey houses built in the late 19th century, constructed from squared rubble stone with grey limestone dressings. They feature a flat-eaved roof and three brick stairs. Each house has a three-window range, with grey limestone angle quoins and window and door surrounds, all under slate hoodmoulds. The windows are hornless 12-pane sashes, and the doors have plain overlights. The house on the left, Llwynhendy, has a four-panel door and a first-floor end window with a dripstone. The end wall is made of rough rubble. Hafod Llwyd has a 20th-century door and a similar end window, which has been shortened due to a 20th-century extension on the east end. Both houses display the year 1972 in grey limestone figures, with one numeral on each wall section at the first floor. They also have outshut rears.

The front gardens are enclosed by rubble walls topped with white quartz coping, featuring grey limestone piers with white quartz tops and iron gates.

Hafod Llwyd is considered one of the best examples of well-built late 19th-century houses typical of Dinas, and it is said to have been built by returning sea captains. This pair is very similar to Ty Cambria and Castle Terrace.
