Description

Llwynhendy is a pair of two-storey houses built in the late 19th century, constructed from squared rubble stone with grey limestone dressings. The buildings feature flat-eaved roofs and three brick stairs. Each house has a three-window range, with grey limestone angle quoins and window and door surrounds, all under slate hoodmoulds. The windows are hornless 12-pane sashes, and the doors have plain overlights. Llwynhendy, on the left, has a four-panel door and a first-floor end window with a dripstone, while the rough rubble end wall adds to its character. Hafod Llwyd has a 20th-century door and a similar end window, which has been shortened due to a 20th-century extension on the east end. Both houses display the year 1972 in grey limestone figures, with one numeral on each wall section at the first floor. They also have outshut rears.

The front gardens are enclosed by rubble walls topped with white quartz coping, featuring grey limestone piers with white quartz tops and iron gates.

These houses are considered among the best examples of the well-built later 19th-century homes typical of Dinas, and they are said to have been constructed by returning sea captains. They are very similar in style to Ty Cambria and Castle Terrace.
