Description

West Lodge is a two-storey building constructed from grey stone, featuring a plain tiled roof with bargeboards. The windows are generally small-pane wooden casements with brick dressings. The lodge has a plan consisting of two blocks set at an angle of about 120 degrees, with the entrance facing the garden. There is a modern panelled door to the right that leads to a formerly open porch, with a flat-roofed dormer above.

To the left, there is a splayed two-storey staircase tower with a gable and a window on each floor. Further left, a broad window is located on the upper floor above a shallow brick extension that has French doors. To the left again, there is an upper window set at the eaves, a modern window on the ground floor, and a corner chimney. The gable end features a window on the upper floor and a link to the extension below. The gable end facing the drive has a single casement window on the upper floor and two casement windows on the ground floor.

The elevation facing the road includes a gabled block on the left with a window on each floor, a large stone chimney, and a small window at the eaves. The roof sweeps down over a shallow extension. There is a two-storey recent extension attached by a low link that matches the roof slope of the lodge, featuring a tiled roof and rendered elevations.

While the building has been largely modernised, it retains some original features such as doors, a pitch-pine staircase in the stair tower, and deep slate window sills. A Gothic doorway to the extension was formerly an entrance doorway.
