Description
The former farmhouse at Castell Farmyard is a single-storey building with a loft, constructed from cement-washed rubble stone and featuring a heavily grouted slate roof with stone end stacks, the larger stack located on the right. The front of the building is double-fronted, with a ledged door and a window on each side, and painted brick heads above them.
To the right of the front, there is a single-storey southwest outbuilding added at right angles, which served as a coal house and wash-house. The north end has a small loft light, while the rear includes an added outshut with a door and window on the north end, as well as a rear door. The south end outbuilding has a grouted roof that matches the ridge height of the main building, featuring a broad rear entry with double doors and a timber lintel, along with a door at the front.
Inside, the kitchen is accessed from the south end and contains a fireplace with a timber lintel. A whitewashed pine partition separates the kitchen from the north end parlour. There is ladder access to the original crogloft above the parlour, and some later inserted flooring has been added over the kitchen.
