Description
44 High Street is a mid to later 19th century pair of semi-detached houses built from coursed purple rubble stone. They feature a paired gabled front elevation, a slate valley roof, and side stacks.
The houses are two stories with an attic and each has a two-window front. The window heads are made of red brick. Each gable has a single flat-headed attic 4-pane sash window, while the first floor includes a narrow round-arched inner window and a large camber-headed centre window with small-paned margin light sashes. The ground floor mirrors this with a similar centre window and an inner round-arched doorway that has a traceried fan-light and a door with a single arched panel. Notably, No 44 has a carved bargeboard, while No 46 features a moulded bargeboard.
The front gardens are enclosed by art-nouveau low iron railings and gates.
