Description
Pigeonsford Mansion is a Grade II listed building featuring roughcast render, slate roofs, and rendered stacks. The plan is arranged around three sides of a courtyard at the rear.
On the northeast elevation, to the left, there is a three-window block of two storeys plus an attic, which has gabled dormers and horned four-pane sash glazing. To the right is a two-storey, two-window block with a hipped roof and dentil eaves; the first floor has 12-pane hornless sashes, while the ground floor features a restored trellis ironwork porch over the entrance doorway and a 12-pane sash to the right. The northwest elevation has two 12-pane hornless sashes on each floor, and the return to the right has a single window on the first floor. Adjacent to this is a 20th-century block that connects to the earlier structure via a two-storey link, which is set back and features horned sashes on each floor. To the right of this link is a two-window, two-storey block that is set forward, has a hipped roof, and 12-pane horned sash glazing. To the left, steps lead up to a Doric porch over a panelled entrance door, with a ground floor window to the left return.
The garden elevation has three first-floor sashes on the right and French doors with sashes on each side on the ground floor. To the left, at first floor level, there is a four-light landing window with stained glass, along with narrow eight-pane sash windows on each floor. To the right of this is a link to an outbuilding known as the chapel, which features a first-floor balustrade and a glazed gallery. At the rear, there is a further gabled outbuilding that runs at right angles to this block. The elevations facing the courtyard include one first-floor Gothic window in a 19th-century block.
Inside, a long corridor leads from the northeast doorway. Two rooms to the right have decorative cornices and ceilings, while the 20th-century block includes one ground floor room with good Neo-Georgian decoration. A grand staircase and panelling, along with many doors, have been removed.
