Description
39 North Parade is a terraced group of late Georgian buildings, featuring three stories and two windows, with painted render, scribed stucco, and roughcast fronts. Number 43 has two stories and an attic. The ground floors are rusticated and channelled, with mixed architectural details including quoins and end pilaster strips. A cill band runs along the first floor, except for No 43. The roofs are slate, with bracket eaves, and Nos 41 and 43 have raised gabled fronts, with tiled cresting. The chimney stacks are made of brick and cement render.
The buildings have horned sash windows, with architraves present on Nos 35, 37, and 39. There are two and three-story splayed bay windows to the left of the entrances, featuring cornices and panelled aprons. No 33 has a two-story oriel window over its entrance, while No 43 includes an attic window above its bay window, which has an ornate apron. The doorcases are plain Doric for Nos 33, 35, 39, and 41, with No 35 showcasing bobbin beading and No 41 being raised. No 37 features a Victorian half-glazed porch, and No 43 has a Gothick porch. The doors are mainly half-glazed, with a four-panel door at No 33 and Gothick cusped panelled double doors at No 43, which also has a similar fanlight. No 35 retains a Georgian fanlight. There are boarded cellar openings at Nos 41 and 43, and iron railings are retained at the front, particularly at No 43, which has baluster-shaped newel posts.
No 43 also retains an entrance hall with a pointed arch supported by paired columns.
