Description
4 Tabernacle Street is a group of two-storey buildings featuring three-window simple classical fronts. Nos 2 to 4 have a roughcast finish, while No 1 has scribed render and No 5 has plain render, all with later 19th-century ornamentation. The buildings have end pilaster strips, rusticated quoins, and a cill band. They are topped with slate roofs and have three rubble chimney stacks (one heightened in brick) and two rendered chimney stacks.
The sash windows include glazing bars on the first floors of Nos 1, 2, and 5. Nos 1, 3, and 5 feature architraves, with lugged architraves on Nos 3 and 5, and ornamental keystones. No 1 has two splayed bays with sash glazing on the ground floor, topped with a lean-to slate roof and a rope moulded cornice. No 2 has two-pane sash windows on the ground floor and throughout No 4, while No 3 has modern windows. No 5 features 12-pane sash windows with lugged architraves and ornamental keystones. The doorways have similar detailing with panelled doors. The right end wall is plain roughcast and includes a garage extension with boarded doors.
