Description
Abermeurig is a three-storey building constructed with roughcast and features a slate roof that has deep eaves and a timber mutule cornice, along with stone end stacks, the northern stack being particularly large with an external chimney breast. The front facade has a three-window range of broad sashes, with 12-pane windows on the main floors that have narrower outer panes, and six-pane windows with similar outer panes on the upper floor. The windows are fitted with louvred wooden shutters. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped with a rectangular overlight and a traceried fan. It is framed by a timber porch supported by two columns and two reeded half-columns, featuring a triglyph frieze and cornice.
The southern end wall is plain and includes a 20th-century conservatory, with a door located to the left on the ground floor. The rear of the building has a two-storey outshut with three windows, and a central stair gable that features an attic lunette and a mid-height 12-pane window. On either side, there are ground floor 12-pane sashes and first floor six-pane sashes.
There is a single-storey wing to the north, which has an unusual apse-ended design and is said to have been a dairy. The southern front of this wing includes a tall cambered-headed 24-pane window with stone voussoirs, situated under a small gable, and a casement window to the left.
Inside, the building showcases early 19th-century details, including a stick-baluster stair with a ramped rail and thin paired column newels. The hallway features an elliptical arch and paneling, with six-panel doors throughout. The main front rooms have 20th-century fireplaces, while the southeast room is adorned with an attractive plaster cornice decorated with urns and grapes, as well as a plaster floral ceiling border.
