Description
29 High Street is a three-storey building constructed from blue lias rubble stone, topped with a slate roof. It features one truncated brick ridge stack on the right and a red brick stack at the north end. The façade has three windows, arranged as one window on the left and two windows on the right. The first floor has 12-pane hornless sash windows with slate sills and brick heads, while the upper floor has similar 6-pane windows. The building has flat eaves supported by paired brackets.
On the ground floor, there is an original carriage arch leading into Black Lion Yard on the right. This arch is made of blue lias voussoirs and is set into the brickwork of the Black Lion. The remainder of the ground floor features mid-20th century black tiled shopfronts with three narrow frontages. There are also two rear wings. The building was formerly stuccoed and had ground floor sashes.
