Description
The lychgate to the Church of Saint Maelog is a Grade II listed structure made of oak, with side walls constructed from rockfaced grey rubble stone topped with red sandstone chamfered coping and a high plinth. A dedication panel is located on the north wall. The roof is gabled on the sides, covered with plain tiles and finished with crested ridge tiles. There are three posts on each side, with the outer posts featuring curved braces that extend up to the lintels, along with small shaped blocks at the ends. Each side of the lychgate has two pointed openings, which include ogee cusped bracing, a tie-beam, a king-post, and diagonal struts in the gable. The entrance is fitted with double iron gates that have lower, middle, and top rails, spearheads with scroll designs, and diagonal strengthening bars.
