Description
The former stables and coach house at Dysserth Hall were built around 1830, likely during the remodeling and enlargement of Dysserth Hall. They were converted into two houses around 1930-1940 after being acquired by the Powis Estate.
The exterior is constructed of brick with a slate roof and features two stories with a symmetrical design and outer gabled wings. The west-facing elevation has two wide arches with cambered brick heads, which have been infilled and now contain doorways and 2-light casement windows with leaded lights set in splayed brick reveals; above these are 3-light casement windows. Similar wide openings on the south gable return are now blocked. Each outer gable has paired 2-light casement windows with leaded lights on the ground floor and a 3-light casement window above. The coped gables are adorned with moulded kneelers and finials. The rear elevation mirrors this layout and also features leaded casement windows of 2 and 3 lights.
The buildings maintain the external character of a coach house from around 1830 and exhibit a consistent vernacular style following their conversion into dwellings. They are part of a group with Dysserth Hall.
