Description
The Wynnstay Arms is an impressive building made of white painted stone, topped with slate roofs. It stands three storeys high with attics and consists of two nearly identical symmetrical structures, each featuring three storeys and three bays. These structures are joined at the ends and have central doors that were originally adorned with a modest columned Doric portico topped with a balustrade, which has now been replaced by stone gabled porches. The front of the building has 12-paned double hung sash windows set in openings with cambered ashlar stone heads, while the top floor has six-pane windows. All front windows were replaced with uPVC during the time of the resurvey. The building has blue brick stacks at the gable ends, likely from the late 19th century, along with one additional stack placed asymmetrically and another on the rear slope. At the rear, there is a short parallel ridged block with a central stack, as well as a long range of stone and slated outbuildings, which were probably constructed as stabling and grooms' quarters and have been extended at various times.
