Description

Ty-Croes is a two-storey building with an attic dormer and a cellar, constructed from painted brick on stone foundations. It features saw-tooth and over-sailing eaves courses and has a slate roof with raised gable ends. The building has a single pile layout with an original rear wing that flanks the roadside. There are three flush brick gable stacks, with the right-hand stack being original.

On the ground floor, there are three large paned sash windows, and to the right of the door, there is a window set in the brick blocking of a former 19th-century shop front. The first floor has timber cross-windows under cambered heads, with the lower sections having sliding sashes hung behind the mullion. The slate-hung hipped dormers have modern glazing. The front door, positioned to the right of centre, consists of four panels with an overlight and a plain doorcase cornice supported by carved brackets. Above the door, there is a plain flat hood on iron braces, which extends over the former shop front on curved iron brackets.

The east roadside elevation features two blind panels and one cross window under cambered heads, along with a wide three-light casement under a cambered head located on the lower right. Inside, there is a central staircase hall with stairs that have column-on-vase turned balusters, a chamfered square newel, and a moulded handrail, with stairs leading down to the cellar. The cellar contains old ovens, a cobbled floor, half-timbered partitions, and plain squared beams. The kitchen in the rear wing has a narrow chamfered exposed beam with scroll stops and a vertically battened plank door fitted with spear-ended strap hinges hung on gudgeon pins. The first floor rooms include cupboards with two-panel doors and H-hinges, as well as beaded boxed beams.
