Description
The agricultural buildings at Black Hall consist of an L-shaped timber-framed range with lofts. The southern section is the earliest, dating from the 17th century. It features a box frame with square panels that originally had wattle infill but is now weather-boarded. The structure sits on a largely stone plinth and has a steeply pitched slate roof supported by tie beam trusses and angle struts. The internal layout has been altered significantly in modern times. The building may have originally served as a barn, but it is currently used as a garage on the left side, with a "barn" space to the right.
Adjoining this structure is a stepped-down building from the late 18th or early 19th century, which is a lofted cowhouse. This building has light framing and tall posts, also weather-boarded but resting on a brick plinth. It features a gently pitched slate roof, with a central pitching door leading to the loft above a cowhouse window, and doors at the outer corners. A similar structure with alterations is located to the north.
Additionally, there are 20th-century timber-framed shelter sheds with slate roofs positioned at right angles to the right of the main range.
