Description
The summerhouse in the grounds of Rookwood is a former dwelling from the 17th century. It is a single-storey structure, likely reduced in size over time. The building features square-panel timber framing, although some timbers have been replaced. There are two later doorways with Tudor-arched heads, and the west wall is made of rubble stone that incorporates a stack. The roof is covered with stone tiles.
Inside, the summerhouse consists of a single room with exposed beams and joists, and a stone flag floor. There is a large open fireplace that has a chamfered timber lintel. The original doorway on the north side has a chamfered frame but is now blocked. A notable feature of the exterior is a four-light ovolo moulded mullion window.
