Description
Lower House Farmhouse is a mid-19th century building constructed from rubble stone with pecked ashlar dressings and topped with a slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high and features three symmetrical bays with gable stacks, designed to be two rooms deep. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a plain overlight above it. Both floors have sixteen-paned sash windows.
An extension has been added to the east gable, which is also two storeys and two bays, built in a similar style but with a lower roof. This extension includes a part-glazed door and a twelve-paned window above it, while the second bay has false window recesses. At the rear, there is a one-storey service wing with an attic and a wash-house attached to the north side of the extension. A wall is connected to the building, completing the rear garden area.
The interior was not accessible during the inspection in May 1995. This farmhouse is noted for being a handsome and well-preserved example of 19th-century architecture, situated prominently at the southern end of the village.
