Description
Neuadd Goch is a small house with a lobby entry plan, dating from the 18th century. It features a catslide extension at the rear and a small single-storey wing at the front under a pitched roof. The house has two full storeys and an attic, topped with a steeply pitched roof supported by two purlins. The exterior is rendered with black-and-white painted framing that does not match the original timber framing. The roof is covered with slate, and there is a brick stack located just off centre.
The front door, which is planked, is situated opposite the stack. There are two small 4-pane iron casement windows, one above the door and another to the west. The small wing, located immediately to the east of the door, is believed to have been a cart shed. A photograph from the 1940s shows it with the same box framing as the house, suggesting it is likely contemporary. The eastern side of this wing has been replaced with brick and features cart-shed type double doors at the front.
The rear catslide extension is constructed of stone on the west side and brick on the east, possibly representing a dairy block that was later extended. It includes a modern half-lit rear door in the centre, a small brick porch, and small casement windows on either side. Most of the windows are located in the gable ends of the building. The west gable end stands on a plinth and is jettied, with a 10-pane wooden window on the ground floor that protrudes and has an ovolo moulded sill and lintel. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane iron casement window with a slightly protruding sill, along with a two-light casement in the attic. The east gable is similar but lacks a jetty, featuring 10-pane wooden casements for both the ground and first storeys, and a small 4-pane casement to the left of each window.
Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection in June 1996.
