Description
Y Gorlan is a pair of houses located at the southwest corner, positioned at right angles to the entrance of the main U-shaped group of houses. Y Gorlan is accessed from the main road, while Craigwen is accessed from the garden village road.
The buildings are two stories tall with a rendered front featuring two sets of two windows. Y Gorlan is distinguished by its advanced position and twin gables. The slate roof has wide boarded and slightly swept eaves, along with dark brick chimney stacks. All the top-opening small pane casements are preserved and feature shallow hoods. The windows consist of three and four lights, except for the splayed ground floor bays at either end. There are round arched entries to the gable ends with doors set in splayed recesses; Craigwen retains the original small pane window above. Y Gorlan has a lean-to at the rear, while Craigwen features a gabled cross range with original windows on the first floor. The roof is dog-legged on either side of this section and includes small pane glazed flat roof dormers. Additionally, Craigwen has a lean-to rear porch.
