Description
Maengwyn House is a two-storey building, likely built in the mid-19th century, featuring a three-plus-one window arrangement on its scribed stucco facade. The elevation includes rusticated quoins and a plinth. The slate roof has bracket eaves and stock brick chimney stacks located midway down both the front and rear roof pitches. The windows are horned sash style with horizontal glazing bars, architraves, and bracket cills, while the ground floor also has bracket cornices.
At the center of the house is a Doric porch supported by fluted columns, with panelled reveals and a six-panel door. The left gable end has four-pane sash windows, while the right gable is made of rubble and features a chimney breast towards the front, along with a lower cross range behind it. The rear of the house has a shallow gable projection and a bay window that is covered in ivy, also with bracket eaves.
The front of the property is enclosed by spearhead railings, with rubble boundary walls on either side. Inside, the hallway features ribbed plasterwork, and it is said to retain a fine chimneypiece in one of the public rooms.
