98 Heol Maengwyn

98 Heol Maengwyn is a mid-19th century row of five almshouses. The building features a symmetrical, two-storey front made of coursed rubble, topped with a hipped slate roof and wide boarded eaves. There are chimney stacks on the rear roof pitches. Small gables are positioned over the first-floor windows at both ends and in the center, flanking the advanced and gabled bays of Nos 96 and 100. Most of the gables retain pendants and finials, and all have undulating bargeboards. The windows are small-pane, two-light casements with Tudor labels, triangular-headed in the small gables, and feature diamond panes at the apex; these windows extend through the eaves. No 96 has rose pattern bosses flanking its windows, while No 94 has a boarded door, with the rest being half-glazed. The rear has four gables, with No 94 having a broader gable; the chimney stacks here are partially rendered. Nos 94 and 96 still have sliding sash windows, and there is a rubble lean-to on the left.
