Description
Middle Alport is a two-unit, three-window range building that stands two storeys high, featuring a continuous outshut at the rear. The walls are constructed from random rubble, topped with slate and corrugated metal roofs. The main house has a slate roof with gable stacks; however, the stack on the left has been reduced to below ridge level, while the right side has a brick chimney that extends above the ridge. The front windows have segmental brick heads and iron-framed casements with small panes. The doorway also features a segmental brick head, with splayed reveals in dressed stone, and is accessed by four concrete steps. It has a ledged and battened door with a fixed overlight above. To the left, a cellar window has a stone lintel and is set in a timber frame with horizontal iron bars. The south elevation includes a single mid-20th century window at eaves level, and the catslide roof over the outshut is covered with corrugated sheets. The rear of the house was not fully accessible during inspection, but it appeared to have a single two-pane casement window.
Inside, the building has a two-unit plan with a central stair hall. It features an 18th-century open well stair made of oak, and ledged and battened doors are present throughout the property.
