Description
The Granary and Gig House at Plas Nant-y-Meichiaid is a small timber-framed building dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. It measures four panels wide, eight panels long, and three panels high, and is set on stone footing walls. The infill panels are made of brick and wattle and daub, with corrugated iron cladding at one end and a slate roof.
The building has an open front facing north. The south side features a pitching door and battened vents. There is a staircase leading to the granary on the upper floor at the west end. The structure consists of three slightly irregular bays, with one truss supported by queen posts extending from the floor, and ties connecting to the wall plates. The floor is boarded and has an underdrawn lath and plaster soffit. Originally, the granary had internal walls that were plastered, and it features a single purlin roof.
