Description

4 Church Terrace is a box-framed building with square panels and some arch-bracing, originally featuring plastered wattle infill, although many panels have been filled with painted brick nogging. Some of the lower timberwork on the rear elevation has been replaced with brick, which is painted to imitate timber. The brick plinth is likely an original or early feature. The gable-end roof truss has paired raking struts, and the building has a slate roof with a brick axial chimney stack, which includes a modern brick stack rebuilt against the west gable wall.

The original section of No 3 forms a single unit, while No 4 has a two-unit plan. The street-facing elevation consists of three bays, distinguished by arch-braced full-height vertical posts. Between these posts, the middle-rail is continuous, with intermediate posts and rails creating square panels. The entrance to No 4 is located in the central bay, with a single small two-light casement window in each outer bay. There is a new or rebuilt dormer window in the center of the roof, while an older dormer for No 3 is situated in the left-hand bay, which features two casement windows on the ground floor, one of which may have replaced a doorway. The openings on the rear elevation have largely been renewed, while maintaining the integrity of the framing.
