Description

No 3 is a building constructed with a box frame featuring square panels and some arch-bracing. Originally, it had plastered wattle infill, but many panels have been filled with painted brick nogging over time. Some of the lower timberwork on the rear elevation has also been replaced with brick, which is painted to imitate timber. The brick plinth appears to be an original or early feature. The gable-end roof truss has paired raking struts, and the building has a slate roof with a brick axial chimney stack, which includes a modern brick stack rebuilt against the west gable wall.

The original section of No 3 is a single unit, while No 4 consists of a two-unit plan. The elevation facing the street has three bays distinguished by arch-braced full-height vertical posts. Between these posts, the middle-rail is continuous, with intermediate posts and rails forming square panels. The entrance to No 4 is located in the central bay, with a single small two-light casement window in each outer bay. There is a new or rebuilt dormer window in the roof at the center, and an older dormer for No 3 in the left-hand bay, which features two casement windows on the ground floor, one of which may have replaced a doorway. The openings in the rear elevation have largely been renewed while respecting the integrity of the framing.
