Toll House Cottage

Toll House Cottage is a 19th-century building with painted brick walls and a slate roof, featuring a central rectangular brick chimney that is also painted. The cottage has a cruciform plan with its long axis aligned parallel to the road. The elevation facing the road includes a central projecting gabled bay, which has a Gothic window on the first floor. The ground floor features a broad Gothic-arched recess that was formerly used for displaying toll rates.

To the left of this bay, there is a first-floor window with diamond-shaped glass panes and an entrance doorway with a boarded door, dating from around 1920. There is also a ground floor window to the left. The right return of the bay has a single rectangular window, and to the right of this, facing the road, is a blind rectangular window. On the ground floor, there is a mullioned and transomed window with diamond cames.

The gable facing west has a two-light rectangular window with diamond cames on the first floor, and there is a modern extension at the ground floor. The gable end facing Llanfyllin to the east has one mullioned and transomed window with diamond cames on each floor, with shutters on the ground floor window. The rear elevation facing the B4393 features a single camber-headed window on each side of the bay, along with a small window in the left return of the bay.
