Description

Rhiwlas Terrace is a row of seven timber-framed workers cottages dating from the early 20th century. The terrace is arranged in three mirrored pairs, with an additional house added to the right. Four chimneys are visible, constructed of pressed brick, with one rising higher than the others. The roofs are slate-covered. Each house has a single window on each floor, all featuring twelve-pane Yorkshire (horizontal) sash windows, although some have been replaced. The timber framing is a distinctive feature, with large square panels and visible angle braces. The central section of the terrace has heavier timbers than the end houses, which also show variations in timber size and frame pattern. Nos. 4 and 6 retain their original simple boarded doors, which retain group value.
