Description

Great House is a 1½-storey house with rendered walls, a steep slate roof, a large stone ridge stack, and an external stone stack on the gabled wing. The main range features a central entrance that is sheltered by an added gabled porch. To the left of the entrance is a 16-pane horned sash window, while to the right is an inserted window and an added lean-to porch. A replaced dormer is located to the right, and there is a 12-pane sash window in a roof dormer to the left. The slightly taller wing, which is painted white, has a half-glazed replacement door on the right. To the left of this door, in a wide gabled bay, are 16-pane horned sash windows on both the lower storey and the attic. The rear of the wing and the gable end of the main range have been modernised with three replacement sash windows in the attic, two of which are in dormers, along with a stair window to the left of centre and a two-light casement window on the lower left. The rear wall of the main range includes inserted French doors to the left of centre, a two-light window to the left, and a 12-pane sash window to the right. There is a lean-to porch at the right end, which was in the process of being rebuilt at the time of inspection. Of the three dormers, the right-hand one retains a 12-pane sash window, while the others have been replaced. The gable end of the main range features blockwork that is to be rendered.

The 17th-century plan of back-to-back fireplaces has been preserved. The kitchen fireplace has a timber lintel, and the room features a cross beam with ogee stops. The parlour retains two cruck trusses.
