Description
Gadlas is a 1½-storey house featuring a three-window range, constructed with whitened render and topped with a steep slate roof. The house has an original square chimney stack on the left and a 19th-century rectangular chimney stack on the right, both of which are pebble-dashed. The left end of the building is battered at the base due to a lower ground level. The openings are offset to the right side, with a central replacement door located beneath a gabled canopy supported by brackets. The windows on the right and left, as well as those in the gabled half dormers, are 4-pane sashes set on tile sills, though they have replacement glazing in earlier frames that were originally 12-pane sashes.
On the left gable end, there is a small-pane window inserted in the lower right corner. At the rear, there is a parallel two-storey wing that has a two-window elevation featuring 2-light casement windows on the first floor above a single-storey lean-to shed. The gable end of this wing retains the lowered gable of a former outbuilding that was demolished in the late 20th century. To the left of the rear wing, the main range includes a half dormer with a 12-pane horned sash window, which reflects the original style of the front windows. Adjacent to this is a 1-storey flat-roofed projection added in the 1970s.
Inside, both ground-floor rooms preserve their joist-beam ceilings. The room on the left, which served as the hall, still features a fireplace with a cambered timber lintel.
