Description
The Dovey Hotel is a symmetrical, two-storey building with an attic and basement, featuring three windows on the front. The front is roughcast with raised quoins, while the south gable end is slate-hung. The hotel has a slate roof with two ridge stacks, one made of yellow brick on the right and the other of blue brick on the left.
The central entrance is highlighted by a half-glazed wooden porch with a flat roof and decorative cornice. The porch features a cusped archway with openwork spandrels, and the flanking and side lights contain marginal stained glass. Inside the porch, there is a panelled door with a plain overlight. The windows on the flanking and upper storeys are 12-pane hornless sashes set in raised surrounds.
To the right of the porch, there is a post supporting a sign that reads 'Dovey Valley Hotel / free house'. The slate-hung south gable end has a round-arched 20th-century window in the attic, and 12-pane sash windows are offset to the right on both the first and ground floors. Adjacent to the right is a porch with a hipped roof that provides access to the bar. There are cellar lights at ground level.
The north gable end features a round-arched sash window in the attic, with pairs of 12-pane sashes on the first and ground floors, offset to the left side. There is a lower wing to the left, while the rear of the building was not visible during the inspection. Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
