Description
Llandrindod Wells Signal-Box is a 2-storey LNR Type 4 signal box, likely built around the time of the station's rebuilding and enlargement in 1874. This makes it an early example of the gabled type produced by Crewe works between 1876 and 1904. The signal box features a slate roof with boxed eaves and finials on the bargeboarded gable ends. The first floor is weatherboarded and has a deep timber bank course above a brick ground floor with a plinth. The first floor has wrap-around glazing with grouped sliding sash windows on the west side, one similar window at each end, and a half-glazed door at the south end, which is accessed by a flying timber staircase. The ground floor on the west side has two windows with cambered heads and a door with a similar head at the south end.
